The Supreme Court today dismissed rape charges against Bollywood director Madhur Bhandarkar.
The court had stayed criminal proceedings against the filmmaker in April this year.
In 2009, a woman named Preeti Jain had accused Bhandarkar of raping her on the promise of giving her a film role.
She had alleged that they had "had sex 16 times between 1999 and 2004".
Bhandarkar is the director of critically acclaimed films like Chandni Bar, Page 3 and Fashion among others.
