Students make frantic phone calls as schools differ on date; CBSE website says Friday

THERE was much confusion yesterday over the date for the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Std X results. It turned out that different schools had been giving different dates to students.

The confusion was cleared later and it was determined that Friday was the date of the results, but by that time many frantic calls had been made to schools by students who thought yesterday was the day of the results.

Students can check their results on the CBSE website after they are declared at10 am on Friday.

CBSE schools across the city received calls from distressed students enquiring about the results as till Monday evening some schools had been saying the results would be out the next day.

But when calls were made yesterday morning, the school authorities sounded confused. Schools are supposed to follow the updates on the CBSE website for information on the results.

Early in the day yesterday, Kuldeep Mahajan, head administrator, DAV School, said the results would be out today.

"That was the date on the website on Monday evening. We haven't checked the website, so there may be changes in the date," he said.

Kiran Jadhav, vice principal, Vikhe Patil Memorial School, said the school had informed the students about the change in the dates.

"We were under the impression that the results will be out on May 25. It seems that there has been some delay. I am in constant touch with students and have been updating them," said Jadhav.

Milinda Naik from Dnyan Prabodhini school said, "We had called the board and confirmed the date with them, so we tentatively know that the results will be out either on May 28 or 29."

AN official from CBSE denied that there had been any changes in the results date.

Speaking on condition of anonymity from the Examination Controller office, the official said, "We had communicated the date a couple of days ago. No idea why schools authorities have been giving different dates."
