Though he was delighted with his inclusion in the newly appointed national senior selection committee, Devang Gandhi said it would be a huge challenge for him. "It will be a challenging task because we have a lot more players to choose from, but I am looking forward to this challenge," Gandhi told mid-day yesterday.

The former opener evaded a question when asked about the lack of experience the new selection panel has as compared to the previous one. "I would not like to draw a comparison with previous selectors. They did their job elegantly and I am sure this committee too will do the same," Gandhi added.
Gandhi never thought about a selector's role. "I only dreamt to play for India. In fact I have played with most of the selection committee members, so I think there will be a good bonding amongst us," he said. Gandhi played four Tests and three ODIs, scoring 204 and 49 runs respectively.
