Los Angeles: Singer Selena Gomez has been criticised over a photoshoot that she did for a magazine after it was branded as being reminiscent of Lolita, the underage girl seduced by a middle-aged man from the famous Vladimir Nabokov book.

The 22-year-old posed topless for the spring 2015 issue of V Magazine.

In one of the photographs, topless Gomez was seen crossing her arms to cover her breasts. She only wore a pair of tiny pants with her hair styled in small, voluminous curls. She accentuated her baby face with dramatic lashes and some accessories like hop earrings and a red polkadot bow.

Her pictures grabbed criticism on twitter.

One of the post reads: "How disturbing is @selenagomez' topless shoot for @vmagazine? She looks like an absolute 12-year-old. What is up with that make up."

Another fan posted: "Selena Gomez cover for V Magazine is very Lolita like, right? she's a beautiful girl but imo this way looks really young.."

Some other users said the magazine spread was creepy. One of them tweeted: "Selena Gomez is a grown woman but on the cover of V, she looks like a 13 year old Lolita-type with that hair clip and doe-eyed look #creepy."

Another one said: "If I could erase images from my mind it would be those @selenagomez pics for @vmagazine! She's cute but not in that super creepy spread #ugh."
