The officials of the Mumbai unit of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) have booked their senior officer, Suresh Shetkar, 48, a deputy superintendent (DySP) of ACB Latur unit, in a bribery case. His private aide, Vijay Gadkari, a driver, was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 50,000 on Shetkar’s behalf.

According to the ACB, Shetkar called the complainant (name withheld) two days ago to inform him that the department had received a complaint against the complainant. "Shetkar demanded Rs 50,000 for closing the inquiry. He asked the complainant to hand over the bribe money to Gadkari," ACB stated. Senior officials laid a trap on Friday night and arrested Gadkari red-handed while accepting the bribe.

The ACB then registered a case under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act against Shetkar and Gadkari at the Shivajinagar police station in Latur. They are conducting further investigations.
