A 15-year-old boy hailing from Aligarh in UP was allegedly raped by a senior citizen and his grandson after they brought him to the city with the lure of work. Dehu Road police have arrested the accused. The duo had hired the victim as a worker at their scrap shop situated in Ganadhinagar slums. The minor boy has confessed to the police that the elderly man had raped him at least thrice since he was brought here last week.

The arrested duo has been identified as Salman alias Salim Ali Mehmud (19) and Shafi Mehmud Babu Khan (75), both presently residents of Dehu Road and belonging to Uttar Pradesh. “The accused were neighbours of the child in Aligarh and the victim’s parents knew them well,” informed Ram Jadhav, inspector of Dehu Road police station.

The incident came to light when some passers-by noticed the child being beaten up by the duo. As they rushed the boy to a hospital, the real matter surfaced. “When we conducted a medical check-up we noticed severe inflammation around his anus sphincter and infected pustule, which indicate rape. So, I immediately took him to the police station on Monday night and registered a complaint,” said Yamini Adbe, a physician from Dr Ambedkar Cantonment General Hospital.

Acting on the complaint, police arrested the duo. “The accused have been charged with appropriate sections of The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act and sections 507 and 34 of IPC. They will be produced in court on Wednesday. u00a0
