Seoul is set to launch special cabs for foreigners from next month which will have bilingual drivers and an on-line reservation service in a bid to attract more tourists to the country's capital.

Around 119 international taxis will go into service on May 1, equipped with interpretation services in English and Japanese and drivers who can converse in a foreign language, the Seoul Metropolitan government said, adding a Chinese service will be added in September. Tourist can avail the service by calling a telephone number (1644-2255) or registering into the website www.internationaltaxi.co.kr

Apart from the medium-sized and full-sized cabs, high-end taxis will be also available on demand, city officials said. Reservation desks and international taxi stops will be installed at airports. The fleet will be initially increased to 300 cabs in the coming four months, and it could possibly go up depending on the demand.
