Yet another Mumbaikar seems to have paid the price for hiring house help, but not registering his details with the local police station.

Last night, actor Anju Mahendru's servant, who was hired just four days back, decamped with cash and jewellery from her Juhu bungalow.

Mahendru along with her close friend filmmaker Kalpana Lajmi registered a complaint with the Juhu police station at 12.30 am today.

She spent nearly an hour and a half at the police station, giving details about the house help. She had hired the new servant as her old maid was on leave, inform the police.

She then realised that he had fled with her valuables. This is when she called Lajmi and the two rushed to the police station.

Cop speak

According to Sunil Jhawre, assistant police inspector, Juhu police station, Mahendru was not even aware of the complete name of the servant.

"She has registered a case of theft against the servant whose name she says is Manu. She is clueless about his age," said Jhawre.

Mahendru clearly wanted to avoid the media glare. "It's a small issue that will be sorted out soon. I do not want to talk anymore on it," she said.

According to the police, the servant stole Rs 9,000 cash and jewellery of which Mahendru could not give the exact worth.

If only...

A police officer from Juhu police station said, "Had Mahendru registered the basic details of the servant immediately after she hired him, the case would have been easy to solve.

Now, we will have to start from scratch as we don't even know where he stayed or from where he had come."
When bebo was robbed'
