Shades and hues from Madras

When it comes to the wearability factor, nothing beats hand-woven traditional Indian weaves. But if it’s the lack of contemporary silhouettes that is refraining you from going Swadeshi, Brass Tacks is a brand worth exploring.

Brass Tacks uses traditional Indian fabrics to create easy-to-wear range of clothes

Brass Tacks was founded in 2007 by fashion designer Anaka Narayanan. The current collection that will be exhibited in the city uses a play on various prints created using hand-block techniques, ikat and tie-and-dye.

Each garment has been created using breathable fabrics such as silks, khadi, hand-woven cotton, linen and knits. The outfits, with nearly 40 different designs, also use different stitches such as the Shibori stitch to create a pattern over the outfits. The drape dresses use discharge print on knits for flattering and comfortable fall.

The design philosophy of the brand is to utilise simple tailoring that mirror the style of the fabrics for easy wearing.

On February 21 and 22, 10.30 am to 7.30 pm
