'Boom Boom' Shahid Afridi is known for his confrontational attitude, but the former Pakistan skipper seems to have mellowed with age and on Friday showed his pacifist avatar.

The Indian Army's 'surgical strike' in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Pakistan's response to it is currently the hottest topic of discussion among citizens of both countries and how could Afridi stay away.

On Friday, reacting to the escalating tension, the Pakistani cricketer urged that two neighbouring countries to avoid war and give peace a chance.

Afridi posted on Twitter that Pakistan was a peace loving country and that they wanted cordial relations with everyone. "Pakistan is a peace loving nation, why talk about extreme measures when things can be resolved through dialogues?” the former T20 skipper asked.

"Pakistan wants cordial relationship with all. When two neighbours fight both homes are effected (affected). Say No to war. #Pakistan #India #Peace #neighbours," he tweeted.

While he did talk about de-escalating tensions among the neighbours, what upset many Twitterati was his calling Palistan a 'peace-loving nation'.

People took to the platform in droves to respond to the all-rounder's tweets.
