Shalmali Kholgade, a mentor on reality show Dil Hai Hindustani had not imagined that she would get into Bollywood playback full-time. But she is grateful to the industry for accepting her. "Wherever I am today is because of the industry. I want to continue my journey in Bollywood."

Shalmali says Amit Trivedi has played a vital role in shaping her career. "After listening to AR Rahman's Roja and Bombay, the only Hindi film soundtrack I listened to was Amit's Dev D. For me, it was a huge deal to work with him on my first song. His work has evolved with time, but his sound continues to be unique. The moment you listen to his songs, you know it's an Amit Trivedi track. That's difficult to achieve because a composer is always under pressure to deliver songs that the audience consumes willingly."
