Offices, hotels and large apartments in Bengaluru will go green next year. Manthan, the country's first handmade composter will be launched by Bengaluru-based company Daily Dump for their project titled Complete Waste Management.

Revealing that they have already received four installation orders from residential complexes, Poonam Kasturi,u00a0 founder of Daily Dump and creator of Manthan says, "It is intended to sensitise citizens about their role in managing waste. We will provide support and solutions for storage and recycling."
Kasturi took about six months to design Manthan, a tumbler made from spare parts of other machines, which has a sprocket and chain to rotate it. Available in various proportions according to requirements, the Manthan set for segregating and decomposing 12 kg of waste is priced at Rs 50,000, which includes accessories, training and service support. The first working model was ready two months ago.
A Daily Dump team will hold two or three sessions to teach people how to operate Manthan once it is installed in their housing complex. After loading wet and dry bio-degradable waste into Manthan, two people need to rotate the machine, which should be filled till half, twice a day. Once in 15 days, the waste would need to be taken out and put inside jute sacks or pits in the groundu00a0--u00a0 the waste takes three months to decompose fully into compost. Daily Dump will also connect clients, compost collectors and recyclers.
Kasturi says that it is time people change their approach to waste: "If waste is made visible and beautiful, it can inspire us to change our attitude and behaviour about generating waste."
