The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a 1,000-page chargesheet against Indrani Mukerjea, her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyam Rai for their alleged involvement in Sheena Bora’s murder. The chargesheet was filed at 5.45 pm before the CBI Court at Esplanade Magistrate Court yesterday.

The judge has taken cognisance of the chargesheet. Speaking to mid-day, Public Prosecutor Kavita Patil said, “We filed the chargesheet on Thursday before the CBI Magistrate Court.”

CBI officials said the chargesheet comprises statements of around 150 witnesses, including statements of five to six witnesses that were recorded before a magistrate. One of the statements is that of Rahul Mukerjea, Indrani’s stepson with whom Sheena had a live-in relationship. Moreover, the CBI had attached over 200 documents with the chargesheet. Officials added they were awaiting a few reports, which would be filed later as a supplementary chargesheet.

Commenting on the issue, Khanna’s lawyer said, “On Friday, all the three accused will be produced in the court and are likely to get a copy of the chargesheet.”

Cops recorded driver Rai’s statement after he wrote to the court mentioning that he wanted to reveal the truth related to the murder case. The statement was recorded before a magistrate under Section 164 of the CrPc on November 7. Sources claimed Rai has confessed to his role in the crime before a special CBI court and could be made an approver in the case. The confession speaks about Sheena’s murder, plotted and planned by her mother Indrani and executed by Khanna.
