Adding yet another twist to the already convoluted Sheena Bora murder case, sources from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) yesterday said that Indrani Mukerjea was furious with Sheena when she learnt that the latter had spilled the beans of her past to Peter.

Indrani was further upset over the growing proximity between Sheena and her husband Peter.
CBI officials said that Indrani had always lived in the fear that Sheena would reveal details of her past to Peter and that it would tarnish Indrani’s public image. Indrani also feared that she could end up losing her control over the Mukerjea finances.
Officials added that months before Sheena was murdered, she had disclosed to Peter that she was Indrani’s daughter and not her sister as portrayed. She even disclosed Indrani’s previous marriage with Sanjeev Khanna and her relationship with Siddharth Das — Sheena’s biological father.
Against the relationship
A CBI officer, requesting anonymity, said, “Sheena made the revelation at a time when she and Rahul were in a relationship. During this time, Indrani was trying desperately to separate them.”
“This was the final blow. Perceiving Sheena as a major hurdle in her relationship with Peter, Indrani decided to eliminate her. She then forced Peter to distance himself from Sheena. What she feared the most and was desperate to keep under wraps was now out in the open,” the officer said.
Nefarious plan
CBI officials suspect that Indrani took Peter into confidence and hatched the plot to eliminate Sheena. They believe that though Peter already knew everything, he succumbed to Indrani’s bullying and kept mum. Sources added that all the statements given by Peter, since day one of questioning, lack consistency. “No two statements of his match,” the source claimed.
Case transferred
A source from the Mumbai police department said, “On the day when all three accused were remanded in judicial custody, Peter was summoned to the Khar police station for questioning. The then police commissioner Rakesh Maria had warned Peter that night that he should cooperate with the police and reveal the truth or else even he would be arrested soon. Next day, however, Maria was shunted from his post. However, it raises serious questions about why the Mumbai police never found anything against Peter during its primary investigation.”
