Dhawan, who played the last of his five ODIs in the West Indies in 2011, will probably open the innings with his Delhi senior pro Gautam Gambhir.

The middle order will be as expected - Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja, who could be the second spinner in the squad after Ravichandran Ashwin.

Mumbai batters Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma will add to the batting power.u00a0The selectors may pick five seamers who will look to thrive in swinging conditions.

Ishant Sharma, Praveen Kumar, Umesh Yadav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are likely to make the cut while Ashok Dinda, Shami Ahmed, Irfan Pathan and Vinay Kumar will be discussed.

India’s best result in the tournament was in 2002 when Sourav Ganguly’s team shared the honours with Sri Lanka after rain ruined the final at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.u00a0
