Mumbai: VPM Sports Club's Poorna Raorane set a new meet record in the U-14 girls shot put on Day One of the Willingdon Catholic Gym's 29th annual athletic meet in Santacruz yesterday.

Raorane's throw of 10.05m erased the previous mark of 8.99m. Bombay Parsi Panchayat's Zeshah Davar (9.22m) also broke the previous mark but had to settle for silver, while Dr Radhakrishnan Vidyalaya's Sakshi Parmar (8.25m) won bronze.

In the boys U-16 shot put, Vinayak Bhatia (8.96m) of Don Bosco (Matunga) won gold, with Chembur Track Masters' Vikrant Gaikwad (8.52m) and Nikhil Puthran (8.16m) winning silver and bronze.

In the boys U-12 long jump, Nish Mehta (3.78m)of Savio Sports Club (Andheri) took gold, while his club-mate Faraz Debara (3.64m) clinched silver, and Rustomjee International's Nisarg Bhatt (3.49m) won bronze.
