Reprising a role once essayed by a veteran star can make even the talented pool of younger actors jittery, but Sidharth Malhotra, who will step into the shoes of the late Rajesh Khanna for the remake of Yash Chopra's 'Ittefaq' (1969), claims he isn't under much pressure.

"It is an adaptation and not a direct remake of 'Ittefaq'. There are changes made to the story, so that reduces the pressure of filling in the shoes of a megastar like Rajesh Khanna ji," Sidharth told PTI, adding that he admires the yesteryear actor, whose 1971 drama, Anand, is one of Sid's favourite films.

Talking about the adaptation, which pairs him with Sonakshi Sinha for the very first time, Sid says, "I am very excited. It is a genre that hasn't been explored in a while. Also, I haven't done murder mystery before, so I am looking forward to it."

The remake is being helmed by Yash Chopra's grand nephew, Abhay, who makes his directorial debut with this adaptation. The film, which kicks off in Mumbai next week, is being jointly produced by Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment, Karan Johar's Dharma Productions and BR Films. Ittefaq itself was a remake of the 1964 British film, Signpost to Murder, revolving around an artist who was accused of murdering his wife.
