Less than a few hours after Ricky Ponting criticised Simon Katich's axing from Cricket Australia's (CA) Central Contracts' list, Shane warne has said the former skipper might have been lucky to survive in light of Katich's omission, reported The Australian. 
"Simon Katich is an easy guy to drop, if that makes sense, I don't think anyone is easy but Simon Katich is a lot harder than Ricky Ponting who averages 25 at the moment," Warne said while commentating during the first day of the England-Sri Lanka third Test in Southampton. Katich was averaging 50 as an opener and 45 from his last 14 innings.
