A Special women’s court on Wednesday rejected the discharge application of music director and singer Ankit Tiwari in a rape case where a woman had accused him of raping her on several occasions. After special women’s court judge AS Shende rejected the discharge application, the matter has been kept for framing of charges for the second time on June 30. Speaking to mid-day, Tiwari’s lawyer Mahesh Vaswani said, “We are waiting for the order copy.
After that, we shall think about the next step.” In his discharge application Tiwari had claimed that his relationship with the woman was consensual and that her claims of never having consumed alcohol can’t be true since she worked in the advertising industry. Tiwari was accused of rape by the 28-year-old woman in May 2014, who alleged she was raped repeatedly between October 2012 and December 2013 on the pretext of marriage.
