Delhi Police claimed to have arrested six people regarding a case of robbery on Sunday. Rs one crore in cash was also recovered from their possession. They were identified as Harpreet, Arun Verma, Bijender, Dilshad, Laxman and Sikander. Earlier, four people were held regarding the same incident and more than Rs one crore was recovered from them.

They were identified as Gurdev Singh, Sukhdev, Jaspreet, Harpreet and Gudda. The incident took place on June 20, around 9am, in Geeta colony, east Delhi. The victims, Rajesh and Ravi Kumar Goyal, residents of Laxmi Nagar, were going in a Wagon R car, when four people stopped them. They then took the money the two were carrying and escaped in a black Maruti Omni van and a black Pulsar motorcycle.

Initially, the victims reported to the police that robbers took Rs 15 lakh, leaving Rs 25 lakh behind. Later, police investigation revealed that more than five people were involved in the crime and the actual looted amount was more than Rs three crore.

In driver's seat
"During interrogation, it was revealed that all the accused were drivers by profession. They were tipped off by one Arun Verma, who worked as a driver with Rajesh and Ravi, the victims. Verma was aware that the two were carrying money in the car," said a senior police official.

According to police, the first point of contact was Gurdev, who worked as a taxi driver at New Delhi Railway Station. He roped in his brothers Sukhdev and Jaspreet and cousins Harpreet and Gudda, besides others, all of whom used to work as drivers with him. All the vital details, such as destination, routes, timings, frequency and so on of the cash transfers, were shared by Arun Verma.u00a0

"After the loot, the accused left separately. Later, they reassembled and distributed the money among themselves and left for unknown destinations. Two more accused, identified as Avinash and Sanjay, are still absconding," said DCP (east) Prabhakar.
