An incredible unbeaten 151 by captain Prithvi Shaw enabled MIG cricket club (Bandra) defeat defending champions and hosts Bombay Gymkhana in the seventh edition of the Bombay Gymkhana under-14 cricket tournament for boys yesterday. The win on the first innings gave MIG 11 crucial points to surge ahead of the pack.
Batting first, Bombay Gymkhana were bowled out for a paltry 168 in their first innings. In reply, powered by their brilliant skipper Prithvi Shaw, MIG declared their innings at 247/5 and gained a sizeable first innings lead of 79 runs.
An elated Prithvi after the win said: "I am very satisfied with my knock. My team was struggling at one point as I was losing batsmen at the other end. But I ensured that I kept most of the strike and took my team to a competitive total."
MIG were on top during the entire game and had scalped six wickets for 125 runs in the second innings as well when play ended. Prithvi capped the magnificent all-round performance by picking up three wickets in the second innings.
