New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Somnath Bharti on Tuesday defended his ' safer Delhi for beautiful women' remark by saying that he had just used a proverb to set a benchmark for ensuring a secure environment for girls and women.
' I have just used a proverb to set a benchmark for a secure environment where every woman should feel safe. I meant that every woman will be safe even at night, even if they are wearing jewellery,' Bharti told ANI.
Bharti had drawn flak from various quarters over his statement that beautiful women would be able to go out at midnight if the AAP Government takes over policing system in the national capital.
