Apparently, Sonakshi Sinha will play Amrita Pritam in Ashi Dua's film based on the writer's life
Filmmaker Ashi Dua of 'Bombay Talkies' fame has apparently approached Sonakshi Sinha to play the role of Amrita Pritam in her film that revolves around Sahir Ludhianvi and Amrita Pritam's love story. Says a source close to the actor, “Sonakshi has been approached to star in the film and in most likelihood, she will take up the offer.”
It may be noted here that earlier on, it was reported that the film’s makers were keen to sign on Priyanka Chopra for Amrita Pritam’s role and that Irrfan had been approached for Sahir’s role. Irrfan reportedly opted out of the project because of his other commitments.
But now it turns out that PeeCee is not doing the film either. So the hunt is still on for an actor to play Sahir’s character and that of Imroze, who was Amrita’s partner right till the end. The film will be based on Amrita Pritam and Sahir Ludhianvi’s love story that has been dissected in her autobiography, Rasidi Ticket. Sonakshi Sinha and producer Ashi Dua were unavailable for comment.
