Rock lovers have much to cheer as the city will soon feature a performance by musicians who have been part of the Indian Rock music circuit for over a decade, and have now formed a band titled Kickstart Freedom. Each of these musicians, while excelling in their own departments, have always been looking for a chance to break away from ordinary sounds. The musicians term this collaboration a movement to promote free expression of thought through music.
Singer Sheldon Pereira says, “We will be playing songs by Nirvana as a tribute to them. The music will be full of energy.” The band is influenced by artistes ranging from The Beatles to Audioslave. Their collective influences include Funk, Pop, Jazz, Heavy Metal, Grunge and Alternative Rock. Their repertoire ranges from The Beatles to Pearl Jam, Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Coldplay and Linkin Park. Apart from Pereira, the band also includes Cajetan D’souza (Caji), Adrian D’mello and Cassius Fernandes.
“We will play upbeat music that will make the audience enjoy themselves. Over the years Rock music has changed and it is being side-lined. Rock musicians are moving towards Bollywood. However, on the hindsight, it is also good that Bollywood is also recognising Rock music,” concludes Pereira.
