South Africa will re-group in India, says Wessels

Former South Africa skipper Kepler Wessels believes the Proteas will be at their best when they tour India next month.

Wessels said yesterday that the dramas surrounding Mickey Arthur's shock resignation will not impact the team much as they are away from home.

Wessels believes amid all the drama and changes that have taken place over the past two days, the pressure would have been greater had the South Africans been involved in a home series.

"I believe playing a series away from home takes away the glare and the pressures. Playing in India has its own pressures and demands but with Mickey resigning on the eve of a major tour, the players are fortunate that they are going away rather than staying at home for a Test and one-day series," he said.

"The players are professional enough and will be able to re-group within the surroundings of a new coach and I don't think there will be any negative impact at all."

Wessels was named as one of the three new selectors after CSA fired Mike Procter and his committee during the high drama surrounding Arthur's resignation.
