In a bizarre incident, a Delhi Police Special Cell cop was allegedly beaten up by a colleague in the office premises when the latter came to know about a complaint which was made against him by the former.
Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Jagat Singh beat up one of his colleagues on May 7. A call about the incident was made at about 6.30 am.u00a0
"The cop was who was beaten up had made a complaint against Jagat Singh that being the driver of SWAT commando team he ought to keep the vehicles used by them filled with gas. But as he didn't do that and the matter came up on a number of occasions, the other cop complained against him in his office," sources said.u00a0 When Singh came to know about this he waited for that cop at the entrance of New Delhi Special Cell range office and beat him up black and blue.u00a0 The victim then made a call to PCR and a team of cops from the Lodhi Colony police station reached the spot.
The police station is situated in the same complex. A medico-legal certificate (MLC) of the victim was made the local police. The matter was then brought to the notice of Senior Special Cell officers who have ordered an internal enquiry into the incident and are investigating the matter. Local police also lodged a daily diary entry into the matter and didn't register a case considering it was an inter-department matter.
When contacted, Deputy Commissioner of Police, south district, Chhaya Sharma was unavailable for comments.
Sources at the Lodhi Colony police station said that senior police officers of Special Cell are directly looking into the matter and are planning to take disciplinary action against Jagat Singh.
