A 35-year-old woman was killed in Matunga on Saturday when a speeding bike hit her as she was crossing the road. The lady Madhuri Choudhary, was declared dead on arrival at the Sion Hospital. The biker, Vishal Nadkarni (30) was also seriously injured in the accident and has been admitted to the same hospital.
The incident occurred around 2 pm on Saturday, when Choudhary was crossing the road at Ruia Junction. The deceased, a resident of Ambernath, had come to give her exams at VJTI in Matunga. Police suspect she was headed to the station when the accident happened.
PSI Murumkar, who is the investigation officer for the case, said, “We are not sure yet whose fault it was. We will talk to Nadkarni once he is conscious and record his statement. An Accidental Death Report has been registered with the Matunga
A relative of Choudhary who wished to remain anonymous said, “She had come to give her exams at the college. Irrespective of whose fault it is, those using vehicles should try to make sure they do not over-speed. It is the only way the lives of innocent people can be saved.”
An official from the post mortem department of Sion Hospital said, “The woman was brought dead. She died due to severe loss of blood and head injuries.”
