Ahmedabad: A lioness was killed after being run over by a vehicle on Pipavav road at Rajula taluka of Amreli district early yesterday, a forest department official said.
A lioness was spotted on a bridge in the same area on Sunday night. Her presence halted the traffic for about 20 minutes, before she disappeared

The lioness, was found dead on the Pipavav Road near Pipavav Port, deputy conservator of forests (Amreli) Mohan Ram said. “The lioness was killed after getting run over by a speeding vehicle when it was trying to cross the Pipavav Road early this morning. The body of the lioness has been sent for a postmortem.
Ram added, “It is a sub-adult [lioness] whose age has not been determined yet. It’s not unusual for wild animals from nearby forest areas to cross the road while moving to another place,” Ram said.
