Sanjay Dutt, who is serving a five-year jail term after being convicted in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case, walked out of the Yerawada prison in Pune yesterday on a 30-day parole after citing his daughter's illness as the reason for his leave.

The 56-year-old has been attracting flak from many quarters for frequently being granted furlough since May 2013 when his sentence began after he was held guilty for illegal possession of arms under the Arms Act for the 1993 Mumbai bomb blast case.
The jail administration has, however, denied giving a special and lenient treatment to him. Dutt emerged outside his Bandra residence yesterday evening with wife Maanayata Dutt and director Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
