Spurned, man kills lover's 9-year-old son

Officials from the Dehuraod police station launched a manhunt to trace Guddu Yadav, the prime suspect in the nine-year-old Akshay Suresh Patil murder case.

Akshay’s body was found by his mother Mangal at a secluded spot near Kendriya Vidyalaya in Dehuroad yesterday morning.

Officials said it was Yadav who had called Mangal yesterday morning asking her to collect Akshay’s lifeless body, which he had dumped near the school. They said Yadav was Mangal’s paramour and after her husband death, who died of prolonged illness, had pressuring her to marry him.

Officials said Mangal’s refusal must have spurned Yadav and to avenge his rejection he killed Akshay. Police Inspector Ram Jadhav of the Dehuroad police station said Mangal had gone to visit her relative in Chinchawad on Sunday night. When Mangal returned home, she realised that Akshay was missing.

“Mangal searched for her son everywhere in the area, but to no avail. On Monday morning she received a call from Yadav saying that Akshay’s body was lying near Kendriya Vidyalaya,” Jadhav said.

Officials said Yadav has been missing since Akshay’s murder came to light. They said after Suresh’s death Mangal moved in with Yadav along with Akshay and shifted her base to Mumbai. But she left Yadav and returned to Dehuroad saying that Akshay’s education was her priority.

Yadav kept on pestering Mangal to come back to Mumbai, but failed to convince her. He met her on Sunday and the duo entered a heated argument following which he threatened Mangal that he will kill her son. But Mangala ignored his threats.u00a0
