Spurned, ward boy tries to kill colleague
The Gamdevi police have arrested a ward boy of Jaslok hospital for attempting to kill his colleague, who is a sweeper at the facility.
The accused, Arvind Yadav (29), resident of Goregaon, was persuading Rekha (28) to marry him for about a year. However, she refused his proposal after which their relationship soured. On December 13, Yadav again approached her while she was cleaning on the 17th floor.
"They had a heated argument after which Rekha threatened to consume the floor cleaner she had with her. In the tussle, Yadav pushed the victim and she accidently drank the liquid," said Sanjay Diwadkar, senior inspector, Gamdevi police station.
Fearing arrest, Yadav fled from the spot. The other staff members, who were on the floor, rushed Rekha to the doctor. She's currently undergoing treatment.
"We nabbed Yadav from near the hospital and have booked him under Sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC. He was produced before the court that remanded him to police custody," Diwadkar said.
