New Zealand, who won the toss and elected to bat in the third and final Test match against India here at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, were struggling at 148-7 when stumps were drawn on Saturday with Brendon McCullum uneaten on 34, and Tim Southee 7.

It was a fine bowling performance by India as S Sreesanth (2-20), Ishant Sharma (2-32) and Pragyan Ojha (2-49) claimed two wickets apiece, while Harbhajan Singh removed the dangerous Jesse Ryder.

During last week's Hyderabad Test, India's bowling coach Eric Simmons said that maestro Sachin Tendulkar was working with quickies Ishant and Sreesanth on their no-ball problems.

Both bowlers had overstepped the popping crease on multiple occasions. However, it was a totally different story on Saturday as the duo conceded only eight extrasu00a0-- out of which only three were no-balls.

Sreesanth assumed the role of the leader of the pace attack in absence of Zaheer Khan, and the Kerala pacer responded in style by providing India the early breakthroughs.

After the day's play, when MiD DAY asked Tendulkar if his advice was paying dividends, the veteran batsman laughed, and said: "It is a slow process. Bowlers will get more disciplined over a period of time."

Meanwhile, Sreesanth said that he enjoyed the responsibility of the senior bowler: "Since Zaheerbhai (Khan) is not part of the Test, Ishant and myself had to do the job.

Hopefully, we did a good job today and can continue with our new-found rhythm tomorrow. "I have been working very hard on getting rid of the no-ball problem," he signed off.
