Jagmohan Dalmiya could be BCCI president for a year in case Srinivasan is thwarted

Srinivasan's backers bullish over favourable court verdict today

It could be yet another day of stress for Indian cricket board supremo N Srinivasan today as the Supreme Court will decide whether he can contest for the president’s post at the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s Annual General Meeting in Chennai on Sunday.

The court will have its final say post a petition which was filed by the Cricket Association of Bihar (CAB) to prevent Srinivasan from clinching the biggest post in Indian cricket administration for one more year.

The Board members, especially Srinivasan’s supporters are confident that the court ruling will go their way, but who is to rule out any possibility?

If the Chennai-based controversial administrator is stopped from contesting, the Board’s Plan ‘B’ as it were is to make Jagmohan Dalmiya president for a year.

Dalmiya took over the day-to-day affairs of the BCCI when Srinivasan stepped aside in the heat of the spot fixing controversy which involved his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan.

Shrewd
Shrewd moves and Indian cricket administrators go hand in hand. Arun Jaitley, the Delhi & District Cricket Association president is in line to be the next BCCI chief in 2014.

In all probability, he wouldn’t be pushed to serve only for a year in case the Supreme Court rules in favour of CAB. Instead, Dalmiya will be chief and smoothen Jaitley’s road to the top and ensure he becomes president in 2014.
