Despite falling from running trains, being beaten up and suffering serious injuries, they resolve to overcome adversity is evident, says Kranti Vibhute





Who: An HSC student of Rajiv Gandhi Night College
What happened: Fell from a moving train between Vikhroli and Kanjurmarg in February
Injuries: Had 15 stitches on the head and was in hospital for three days.
Status: "I feel a bit stressed and my left hand still pains a bit. I didn't study as much for the exams as I would have otherwise because of the accident. I am glad my exams end today."

Abdul Sattar Supariwala (17), SSC
Who: An SSC student of St Xavier's High School, Fort
What happened: Was bashed up by a police officer during an altercation in a BEST bus last week.
Injuries: Was bleeding from the mouth, nose and cheek
Status: Abdul appears for his SSC exam today, but still remembers the trauma he underwent. A relative of Abdul, who did not wish to be named, said, "Just pray for Abdul who is appearing for his first paper today."

Usman Mohammad (19), HSC

Who: A student of Bandra Urdu High School and Junior College
What happened: Fell from a running train on Tuesday on his way to the exam centre in Bandra.
Injuries: Legs have been crushed. Has been operated on the right leg. Will be operated on left leg soon.
Status: Usman is desperate to appear for the remaining HSC papers even if it means answering them from the hospital, but he can't due to the serious injuries.
A weeping Usman, said, "I have finished my studies and want to appear for the rest of my exam papers. But I don't think it is possible for me to sit in the exam. I will have to wait till next year."
Usman has been admitted in the Manoram Hospital in Malad (W) and will be kept under observation for a few
more days.

Helpline assists students stuck in traffic jam
SSC students who were on their way to the exam centres yesterday, were stuck in maddening traffic on the Eastern Express Highway near Malad and Kandivli. Fearing that they may not reach the centre on time, they called the board's helpline (27893756) to apprise them of the situation. The board authorities immediately called the traffic control who ensured that the students managed to appear for
the exams on time.
