Standing tall

Actor / TV anchor Mandira Bedi might have never imagined that the Khatron ke Khiladi press conference would turn out to be so khatarnak, but she's braced herself, literally, to face the injury head on. While she is down, she certainly isn't out. Last month she was spotted at the Lakme Fashion Week on crutches and after that for event at the BKC on a wheelchair. Today she'll be back in action with a walking stick at an event in Goa. She tells CS about how life has changed post the accident:u00a0

1 Walking the line
I've never had any kind of fears in my life, but now I don't think I will ever jump from a building barefeet. There was a stage when I was in excruciating pain and took 10 mins to walk 10 metres. I wouldn't drink water because walking to the loo was painful. Even now, taking a bath is quite a task. Since my bandage can't get wet, it's a job to ensure that it stays out of the tub.

2 Home-bound
Most of the time I'm at home. However I do go to the club once in a while when I am feeling brave. The only exercise that my doctor has advised me is swimming. But getting ready for the swim takes longer than the exercise. I think it'll be months before I can get on to a treadmill and weeks before I can walk without any support.

3 Style awry
I've been living in three pairs of shorts. I haven't worn jeans in ages and I'm beginning to miss them. For Diwali however, I was keen on wearing ethnic clothes and I dumped my shorts for a loose salwar and it felt nice to be dressing up after all those days.

4 Missing in action
I've missed out on oodles of work. Initially I was optimistic, thinking that I would be back in action soon, but that was not to be. But all said and done, I've learnt a lot through this injury. I know what it feels to have a dysfunctional limb and I've learnt how to stay positive through it all.
