'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' was adjudged the Movie of the Year and actor Daisy Ridley won the honour for Breakthrough Performance at the MTV Movie Awards. Here's the complete list of winners at the awards

Los Angeles: 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' was adjudged the Movie of the Year and actor Daisy Ridley won the honour for Breakthrough Performance at the MTV Movie Awards.

Director J.J. Abrams accepted the award from Samuel L. Jackson and Alexander Skarsgard at the gala, which was aired on Sunday night and held at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, California, reports aceshowbiz.com.


Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Kevin Hart co-hosted the show.

'I have got to say, it was an incredible honour to be part of the Star Wars saga,' Abrams said.

'It feels especially amazing to be part of a film that represents all genders, all races, and all ages in a positive way,' Ridley said after getting the award.

Her co-star Adam Driver was voted Best Villain.

Charlize Theron picked up the Best Female Performance for her role in 'Mad Max: Fury Road'. She accepted the award in her daughter's name, saying, 'The story of 'Fury Road' is in part a story of the power of women and the power to create our own destinies.'

'Pitch Perfect 2' won two nods; Best Ensemble, and Best Kiss for Rebel Wilson and Adam DeVine. Another double winner of the night was 'Deadpool'. Lead star Ryan Reynolds took the Best Comedic Performance while his showdown with Ed Skrein picked up Best Fight.

Will Smith and Melissa McCarthy received Generation Award and Comedic Genius Award respectively.

'I want to help people. I want to be a light. I want to display love. I want to play roles that have dignity. I want to help in this world,' Smith said.

McCarthy was the first woman to receive the title and she quipped, 'I am certainly, certainly not the first one to deserve it.'

Best Kiss: Rebel Wilson & Adam DeVine - 'Pitch Perfect 2'

Best Fight: Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) vs. Ajax (Ed Skrein) - 'Deadpool'
