Step into the Jahcoozi

Take time out for a gig featuring Berlin-based Electronica band Jahcoozi at the Blue Frog, tonight

The Electronica band Jahcoozi has travelled all over the world with their music and are all set to make their debut performance in India. With energetic, avant-garde Electronic music, they promise their audience an unforgettable evening.

Sasha Perera, Teuton Robot Koch and Oren Gerlitz make up Jahcoozi

The band was formed in 2002 when three music lovers Sasha Perera, Teuton Robot Koch and Tel-Aviv-born Oren Gerlitz met. While Sasha is the vocalist of the band, Koch and Gerlitz are beat freak multi-instrumentalists.
"We are a percussion heavy band and we have got a great response so far," says Sasha.

The band has come out with three albums, Barefoot Wanderer, Blitz N Ass (A Sound), Pure Breed Mongrel, and they are famous for their abstract Electronic beats. "Over the years I think we are becoming more melodic," says Sasha, adding, "I'm also getting more and more involved into music with each passing year."

It's not just the beats, but lyrics are given importance too, Sasha tells us. "We make remixes as well. The atmosphere is important and as we are three creative people, we are never sure how the album will turn out to be.  We truly inspire each other," she says.

Though this is the first time they are performing here, Sasha has travelled around India before and has been to Mumbai as well. "I have been here twice and I even learnt Bharatnatyam as a kid," she shares.

Having travelled to so many countries is a great experience she states. "We have performed in almost every continent except Australia," she says. So, which country is the best place to perform?

"I think South Americans enjoy our music a lot and the response in Nairobi was also great. In India, as well, I think people will appreciate us a lot. I am really excited about performing here," she signs off.
