Koel says she's cool with Baba Ramdev talking about ridding India of corruption but there are some opinions he ought seriously to keep to himself

"Why is it so hard to trust this man who only wants to do good and has a track record proving it?" asks Koel Purie on her blog, about the latest guest on her couch, Baba Ramdev.

He doesn't live lavishly. Doesn't have visible family members raking in the moolah. He doesn't overtly ask for anything in return, she notes, and instead holds free Yoga camps open to all.

"So when he talks about bringing back to the people the millions illegally stashed away in Swiss banks and inside mattresses, why are we not jumping with joy? Baba Ramdev announces that 8 to 10 lakh candidates representing his ethos will stand for elections from rural areas, so why do our alarm bells immediately sound?" she asks.

Perhaps, our fear or cynicism stems from the fact that he has so quickly andu00a0 effectively mobilised so many people without warning.

She admits that he's got some absurdly archaic views on sex, homosexuality and relationships and that he really should keep his opinion locked inside. He has no framework of knowing nor any experiential knowledge about these subjects, she reasons, so he really ought to shut up.

(Remember he's supposedly celibate? she nudges) She asks him how can we know for sure if he's had sex or is having it? These days you just don't know with gurus, she adds as a cheeky afterthought.

He has much to say about that and about the blind faith that followers vest in holy men. He even berates Bal Thackeray, saying the man has lost his vision and his position by becoming so insular in his thinking. She observes, "I never heard SRK or any of the other so called liberals take on the 'ailing tiger' so directly."

Says Koel on her blog, "I personally find his rise to power a cause for concern. I don't want to be told how or what to think. He's a yoga expert and he should stick to that.

"My couch was converted into a yoga mat so I could have all my queries answered. I'm all for him ridding this country of corruption and poverty now only if he'd stop telling me how to think."

On the couch airs tonight on headlines today at 7 pm
