Stress levels under control, SSC exams begin today

From today, 17,40,290 students will appear for their Senior Secondary Certificate (SSC) exams across nine divisional boards in Maharashtra. As many as 3,81,440 students will be sitting for the exams from Mumbai division. 10,000 more students are giving the exam this year as compared to 3,71,955 who had appeared from this division in 2012.

Even though it is their first-ever board exam, the stress levels seem to be low. The counsellors managing the board helpline say that they have been receiving fewer calls from SSC students this year. “Out of all students and parents calling the board office for assistance, there are hardly 10% calls from SSC students,” said Balasaheb Hyalij, one of the counsellors. “Most of them call with queries relating to their exam centre, exam schedule and others. Since the seating arrangement is already up on the board website (www.sscboardmumbai.in) students and their parents check it on the website,” he added.

Laxmikant Pande, divisional chairman of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, said, “All exam-related material has already been sent to the centres. The last batch of SSC-related material was sent to schools yesterday itself. We are taking all possible precautions so that the SSC exams go smoothly without any kind of glitch.” This year, 135 blind students, 280 deaf and dumb students, 79 spastic students and 207 handicapped students will be appearing for the exams in the Mumbai division.
