Sudanese national held for molesting classmate
Officials of the Kondhwa police station arrested a Sudanese national for allegedly molesting and assaulting his 20-year-old classmate at his friend’s flat in Mitha Nagar in Kondhwa on Sunday night.
The girl, in retaliation to his advances, hit Yugu Alfred, the Sudanese national, with a beer bottle on the head and escaped from the flat.
Devious Mind: Police officials said the girl was unaware of ill intentions of the accused. But when she entered the flat, she realised that there was nobody inside expect for the two of them. She became suspicious of his intentions and told him she wanted to leave. But the accused did not allow her to leave. He then molested her and when she started screaming, thrashed her. A resident of Kondhwa, Alfred is a first-year student of the Law College in Cantonment. He was arrested after the victim registered a complaint against him at the police station.
Officials said Alfred called the girl on Sunday night on the pretext of wanting to speak to her and asked her to meet him at a friend’s flat in Mitha Nagar. Alfred was arrested and booked under sections 354 and 323 of the Indian Penal Code.
Assistant Police Inspector (API) Sunil Thopate of the Kondhwa police station said, “The girl, who was unaware of the ill intentions of the accused, went there to meet him. But when she entered the flat, she realised that there was nobody inside except the two of them. She became suspicious of his intentions and told him that she wanted to leave. But the accused did not allow her to. He then allegedly molested her and when she started screaming, thrashed her.”
When the accused started assaulting her, the girl picked up an empty beer bottle next to her and hit him on the head in a desperate attempt to escape from his clutches. Once the accused loosened his grip on the victim, she ran away from the flat.
“She then went to her hostel in Camp and called her friends, and narrated the entire incident. Later, a case of molestation and bodily hurt was registered at the police station,” said Thopate.
