If you subscribe to Humans of Bombay on social media, then you'll want to get your hands on the book by founder Karishma Mehta and published by Popular Prakashan. The book continues to uphold the project's vibe - portraits of Mumbaikars and their poignant tales of the city. We were thrilled to see nameless faces, some of which you may recognise as friends or celebrities, but mostly the former. While it's a touching compendium of intimate stories from the megapolis, it pays the price for what could be a continuing grouse with Humans of Bombay - the lack of a compelling visual style. But, that is only if you are comparing it to Brandon Stanton's stellar lensmanship for HONY.

Skip this meal
While food porn may not be a novel concept, Khaane Mein Kya Hai, the latest video rolled out by digital channel Blush appears to take things a tad literally. Making love is graphically compared to making daal-tadka, where the words chillies and spices and grinding are used just to avoid saying 'sex' and 'orgasm'. It's a satire, we get that. But, making a Shikha Talsania go all Meg-Ryan-in-When-Harry-Met-Sally is a bit much to drive home the point. And what's the point, you ask? To underline the moral wall that divides a mother-daughter from freely talking about marital sex. The result is a forced script with a cringe inducing 'climax'.
Baklava forever
Lower Parel's Kamala Mills has yet another lounge (no surprises here), this one named Kaama. While it looks indistinguishable from many others in that neighbourhood, we particularly liked two picks from the launch night. Their mushroom baklava and scallops in Sri?Lankan gravy are a must try if you are heading there in the coming days. The mushroom baklava melts in your mouth while the scallops are sure to find an encore at your table.

Explore divinity at an exhibition

Ply-split braid like a professional
July 15, 9.30 AM - 12.30 pm and 1 PM - 4 PM: Learn the ancient art of ply-split braiding, a craft from the desert region of North Western India at Piramal Art Gallery. The technique involves splitting cotton or woollen cord and weaving it to produce elaborately patterned camel girths and other animal regalia. Participants will be expected to make their own small, colourful samples on key rings. You can also check out the ongoing exhibition at the gallery titled Nature to Culture: Crafts of India. The exhibit showcases the story of seven types of local crafts across India through five-fold classification of land - mountainous, coastal, desert and pastoral regions.

Explore India's musical traditions

Explore Manipuri dance
