Divya Kumar fills in for Sukhwinder Singh at the last minute after the singer couldn’t make it to perform at an awards function
Over the weekend many B-Town singers, actors and composers came together for a music awards gala. As part of a tribute to late music composer Aadesh Shrivastava, Sukhwinder Singh apparently was supposed to sing Layi Vi Na Gayi from Chalte Chalte (2003). Udit Narayan, Harshdeep Kaur and Amitabh Bachchan too were going to contribute to the performance. The singer however, had to ditch the event and Divya Kumar was called to fill in for him.
Says a source, “A day before the event Divya Kumar was asked to perform instead of Sukhwinder. Although he didn’t have time to prepare, he agreed to be part of the show at the last minute.”
When contacted, Sukhwinder in his defence says, “I had another show to attend and had no connecting flight to come to Mumbai. My show was booked months in advance so I had informed the organisers about my unavailability three days prior to the event.”
