Sunil Loharia murder case: HC demands Navi Mumbai CP's call record details

Troubles don’t seem to end for Commissioner of Police for Navi Mumbai Ashok Sharma. On Thursday, the Bombay High Court directed the state government to submit all the Call Detail Records of Sharma and Suresh Bijlani, the main accused in the Sunil Kumar Loharia (in pic) murder case.

Acting on a petition filed by journalist Ketan Tirodkar, Justices PV Hardas and Sadhna Jadhav directed the state government, through the public prosecutor, to collect all of Sharma’s call records, conversations and transcripts with the accused Bijlani and builder Anurag Garg, who is currently absconding.

Tirodkar in his petition alleged that the police was not investigating the matter in a fair and sincere manner. He alleged that even though Sharma spoke to Bijlani on February 17, a day after Loharia was killed, the authorities had put out a lookout notice for him on February 18.

The next hearing in the matter has been scheduled for January 10 and the court has demanded that all of the call records be presented that day.

On March 26, MiD DAY had reported on how Sharma had exchanged multiple phone calls with Bijlani (‘Prime suspect Bijlani exchanged 105 calls with Navi Mumbai CP, March 26, 2013’).

When MiD DAY contacted, Ashok Sharma about the matter, he simply said, “I don’t know if such an order has been passed. If it is true, I will obey the court’s order.”u00a0
