Bollywood actress Sunny Leone has become the most-searched person on Google in 2015 -- the 2nd year in a row -- beating the likes of Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Shah Rukh Khan and Narendra Modi
Indians may be talking about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his policies, Bollywood actor Salman Khan, given his blockbusters and acquittal in the 2002 hit-and-run case, 'Mastani' Deepika Padukone and even 'Dilwale' Shah Rukh Khan, but when it comes to Google searches India is looking up Sunny Leone.
The actress is the 'Most Googled Indian of 2015' for the second time in a row, leaving behind several A-list stars like Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif and Indian PM Narendra Modi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is tenth on the list; Salman Khan is second and Shah Rukh Khan is sixth.
The 34-year-old former porn star was in the news for a number of reasons -- some controversial, some legal and some related to her professional life, but mostly gossip. Some of the issues that got her media coverage included a Mumbai housewife filing an obscenity case against her; a politician linking a condom ad featuring her to increase in rapes; a music video titled 'Super Girl From China', in which she starred, was slammed as being sexist; her films 'Ek Paheli Leela' and 'Kuch Kuch Locha Hai'; and also her upcoming film 'Mastizaade' getting into trouble wih the Indian Censor Board.
Salman, who turns 50 at the end of the month, was at second place on the list of 10 most Googled Indians, up one place from last year. He though has the consolation of being the most searched Bollywood actor.
The Modi wave seems to be on the wane, at least on Google, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi slipping from second position last year to tenth spot on the list.
The others on the list include Katrina Kaif at fourth, Deepika Padukone rounds up the top 5. Shah Rukh Khan, may have been in the news for his 'intolerance comments', his renewed friendship with Salman and his upcoming film 'Dilwale' with Kajol, but that only helped him move up two spots from the 2014 list -- up from the eighth spot to number 6. Alia Bhatt, who was number six last year is down at nine.
The remaining three spots in the Top 10 are filled by former President Abdul Kalam, who passed away in July, singer Yo Yo Honey Singh and actress Kajal Aggarwal.
Sunny, Katrina, Deepika and Alia fill the first four spots on the list of 10 most Googled Bollywood actresses of 2015 and are followed by Radhika Apte, Anushka Sharma, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Poonam Pandey.
The list of most searched Bollywood actors sees Salman at top, followed by Shah Rukh and Akshay Kumar, Shahid Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, Ranbir Kapoor, Aamir Khan, Varun Dhawan, Amitabh Bachchan and Ajay Devgn.
Salman's blockbusters 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' and 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' occupy second and third positions on the list of 10 most searched movies. But the top spot in this category is taken by 'Baahubali', a film most Indians were talking about, before and after its release.
Sunny Leone shoots for a song for 'Mastizaade' in Bangkok with her fans in the background.
