Some 150,000 fans were expected to descend upon Dallas for Sunday's showdown between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl 45.

American Airlines said it was doing everything it could to make sure fans don't see their dreams dashed by the four to nine inches of snow piling up on runways at the Dallas-Fort Worth International airport.

Southwest Airlines had to cancel about 60 flights at its Dallas Love Field hub, which was essentially closed for most of the morning.

"We've got all hands on deck to accommodate the fans, who want to come for the Super Bowl," spokesman Chris Mainz said.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell insisted that the ice and snow would have no impact on the annual football extravaganza. "We have had a winter to remember and some and it happened here in north Texas. But all of our events are going on as scheduled," he said.
