The American pop singer used a giant tiger, colourful dancers dressed as sharks, among other props as she delivered a medley of superhit tracks during a 12-minute concert that also featured fellow pop stars Lenny Kravitz and rapper Missy Elliott.

The climax to the Perry show was perfectly co-ordinated too - she sang her hit track Firework while live pyrotechnics simultaneously exploded across the stage.

Perry received widespread praise from world media for her act. The Guardian hailed her "high-octane show notable for its surreal camp as for its tunes," while the New York Times felt she "held her own, navigating a handful of her smashes and three wardrobe changes in a performance that resisted bad mood."

World famous celebrities like Britney Spears, Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg were among the star studded spectator turnout that watched the New England Patriots narrowly beat reigning champs the Seattle Seahawks 28-24.
