While Raina, who led Gujarat Lions squad to the IPL play-offs after finishing atop the table, has been ignored, Mumbai batsman Rohit Sharma's inclusion in the Virat Kohli-led Test tour to the West Indies in July-August has raised a few eyebrows.
With a dismal average of 33.18 in 16 Tests, the 29-year-old Rohit has found the going tough in the longest format of the game with just 896 runs under his belt. Both the teams will witness the inclusion of fresh faces in Vidarbha's Faiz Faisal, Karun Nair, Mandeep Singh and Jayant Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal for the Zimbabwe tour.
Meanwhile, chairman of selectors Sandeep Patil said in-form batsman Virat Kohli has been advised rest by the team's physiotherapist Patrick Farhart for the Zimbabwe tour.
Kohli advised rest: Patil
Kohli recently split webbing during an IPL match vs KKR. "The report that we got from Patrick Farhart, was that Ashish Nehra was ruled out due to hamstring injury. Murali Vijay was declared not fit for Zimbabwe tour, same with Kohli," Patil said.
