I had passed by Khadi Bhandar on several occasions during my walks in and around the Fort precinct. They have other outlets in Mumbai too. Yet, I never stepped into this store because of the lacklustre window display.
One fine day, I decided to. Amid a few kurtas that seemed to have been on the racks for years, I spotted a stylish tie-and-dye men's shirt (which I wear with faux leather leggings) and a kutchi embroidery bag; all for less than '350. Other options that might excite fashionistas include cotton and silk materials in beautiful shades.

The hidden gems inside the store remind one of the potential of locally-made fabrics.
I wish the body finds a design genius to utilise and promote Indian textiles to the fullest. Till then, revel in the joy of finding such fashionable treasures in the lost corners of a beautiful, albeit forgotten store.
