Officials of the Yerawada police station arrested Parvati Rajiv Chaddha, a resident of Udaybaug in Ghorpadi, for duping an NRI of Rs 2.35 lakh by promising a seat for her daughter in Symbiosis

Action against Parvati was initiated after the complainant filed a case against her.

Chadda has been accused of fooling Nisha Pradip Bhojwani, who hails from Nigeria, by posing as Vidya Yervadekar, principal-director of Symbiosis.

She had been in touch with Bhojani for the last two months and had guaranteed admission for her daughter through management quote in the Symbiosis School for Liberal Arts if she was willing to pay her.

Officials are also investigating Rajiv’s involvement in the fraud. He is a merchant navy officer. They also recovered a revolver from Parvati’s residence. She was produced in a local court and was remanded in police custody till October 10.
