New Delhi: Assam, Tamil Nadu and Kerala have voted for change. The BJP might get its first government in the northeastern state. The Congress has lost Assam and Kerala, while in Tamil Nadu, DMK was set to regain power trouncing AIADMK, according to various exit polls on TV channels.
Only West Bengal has bucked the trend by re-electing Trinamool Congress led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee who managed to hold on to power by defeating the Left-Congress alliance convincingly for a second consecutive term, the polls showed.

4 die during polls
A 54-year old polling officer died of a massive heart attack in a booth in Kangeyam Assembly constituency while two elderly voters in Madurai and Sivaganga collapsed and died near polling booths in Tamil Nadu yesterday, police said. A 38-year old woman died when she struck by lightning while returning home after casting her vote in Ariyalur.
Polling official forced to remove AIADMK flag shirt
Wearing a shirt resembling the AIADMK party flag landed a polling booth officer in trouble at Virudhunagar district as he was forced to remove it after a Congress functionary objected to it. Polling was suspended for an hour due to the altercation,
police said.
Just over 69% turnout
Tamil Nadu recorded a voter turnout of a little over 69 per cent in Assembly elections at the end of 5 pm as rural voters seemed more enthusiastic than their city counterparts in exercising their franchise. Electoral authorities said even as there was a dip in the pace of polling after 3 pm.

Man dies while standing in queue
An man died of a heart attack this morning while waiting to cast his vote at a polling station in Perambra. Kunhu Haji (70) who was standing in a queue at the booth collapsed. He was rushed to Perambra government hospital where he was declared dead.
